Parasurameswarar Vengamangalam is an east-facing temple with an entrance through a gateway mandapam on the south side. There are 2 Prakarams, but the outer Prakaram is inaccessible. The entrance from the south leads through a covered structure into the temple. The main deity is a small lingam and so the goddess is a small idol in sitting posture. The Inner Prakaram is completely covered. The courtyard in front on the east side has a beautiful Nandi mandapam and balipeedam. An Aavudayar (the base portion of a Lingam) recovered from a lost temple in the same village, said to be Bhuvaneswarar in the records, is kept here with a Naagar idol on top. On the northeast side is a shrine for Navagrahas. South of this temple is a Perumal Temple and further south near the Paalar River is another old Shiva Temple.

Parasurameswarar Vengamangalam is an old temple. Historical information is not available as of now. No inscriptions have been found in the temple.

Parasurama (one of Lord Vishnu’s 10 Avatars) is believed to have installed and worshiped the lord here at Parasurameswarar Vengamangalam.

Directions

Parasurameswarar Vengamangalam is 3 kilometers southwest of Ocheri. While going from the Chennai side, after Ocheri take a left, cross Sirukarumbur temples and turn south towards Paalar River. Cross the Thiruparkadal river which is a minor branch of the Paalar River and Parasurameswarar Vengamangalam is on the right side of the road before Paalar River.

None localy. Closest is the Chennai – Bangalore highway for food. Just before Kaveripakkam in the highway is Murugan Idli Kadai.
