Thirumundeecharam temple goes back more than 1300 years. Thevaram Hymns have been rendered to the Lord here by Thirunavukkarasar (7th Century CE).
The name Thirumundeecharam is derived from the Dwarabalakara (guardians of the gate), Mundi – Mundeecharam. King Veerapandya has been blessed by the Lord here at Thirumundeecharam. Indra and Brahma are believed to have prayed here at Thirumundeecharam.
Thirumundeecharam is in a village called Gramam about 22 kilometers southeast of Thirukoviloor on the Panruti, Cuddalore Road. Drive on towards Panruti to see Idayar, Thiruvennainallur and Thirumundeecharam, in that order. All three are Paadal Petra Sthalams.
Food – None locally. Closest is Thirukoviloor or Panruti
