Mahadevar Payanam is a small east facing Kerala style temple with an entrance gateway in the east. The temple has 2 Prakarams. The inner one is entered through a typical Kerala style entrance and at the entrance are two beautifully carved Dwarapalakas. The temple is situated beautifully on the banks of the Tampiraparani River surrounded by areca nut palms, rubber trees and other plantations and fields. The temple compound has many trees and flowering plants making it a delightful and peaceful place. A little distance away in the east is the Karupparai Bhagavathi temple.
