Many stone inscriptions have been found here including one mentioning Krishnadevaraya’s services in 1725. The ancient temple deteriorated over time and recently the locals joined hands to form a trust and revived it.

It is believed Sage Vyagrapadar worshiped the lord at Aadhipureeswarar Pallikaranai temple.
