Chokkanathar Vadakarai Athur is an east-facing temple situated in an open Prakaram. The sanctum sanctorum of the main deity and the shrine of the goddess have a common mandapam in front with an entrance from the east and exit through another door in the south. There is a beautiful Nandi in front. There are two Dwarapalakas outside the east entrance of the Mandapam. Behind on the southwest side of the sanctum sanctorum is a separate shrine for Anjael Endru Nindra Perumal with his consorts Sreedevi and Bhoodevi facing east. A garuda idol is facing the Perumal shrine. The Cauvery River is flowing from north to south about 600 meters west of Chokkanathar Vadakarai Athur temple.
