Choleeswarar Mallasamudram is an east-facing temple with an entrance from a gateway on the east side. There are two Dwajasthambams, one outside the gate and one in the Prakaram before the main deity. Near the Dwajasthambam outside are a Trident and Vinayaka idol. Choleeswarar Mallasamudram is situated in a single spacious prakaram. The stone Dwajasthambam in the prakaram is followed by a Balipeedam and Nandi Mandapam. There is a small Mahamandapam and Ardha mandapam before Sanctum Sanctorum of the main deity. Two Dwarapalakas are on either side of the entrance to the Ardha Mandapam. Behind on the southwest side is a cloistered mandapam with the Pancha Bootha Lingams. On the north side of the prakaram is the shrine of the goddess with a Balipedam and Nandi mandapam in front. An Ardha Mandapam is in front of the shrine. On either side of the entrance to the Ardha Mandapam are Ichcha Sakthi and Kriya Sakthi as Dwarapalakis. Both the Nandis in front of the sanctum and the goddess shrine are new ones. Two other beautiful old Nandis are kept separately in the prakaram here at Choleeswarar Mallasamudram. There is a Vishnu Temple with the main deity as Azhagarai Perumal on the south side of Choleeswarar Mallasamudram.
