Choleeswarar Tholur is a totally lost temple with only the foundation part remaining at present. The dilapidated mandapams, shrines, and sanctum have been taken down and are awaiting reconstruction. The idols of the main deity Choleeswarar and his consort Visalakshi have been kept in a temporary shed. A group called ‘Sivalaya Uzhavarapani Adiyargal Sangam’ from Salem is on the job of getting the temple reconstructed as per a small board kept at the site. This is a Vaippu Sthalam having found mention in the Thevaram Hymns.
