Sivan Kolli Hills is not to be confused with the famous Arapaleeswarar Temple. Sivan Kolli Hills is an ancient dilapidated temple that is in a totally neglected condition. The sides and ceiling of the stone temple have all nearly collapsed and one has to be very careful going inside. The location of this temple is beautiful amidst tall trees, pepper, and coffee plantations all-around at an elevation of about 1300 meters. An ancient Nandi and a Shiva Lingam are present. The Nandi is inside the broken down mandapam in front of the Lingam which is in the sanctum without a ceiling. Sad state of affairs considering the ancient nature of the temple and the beautiful carvings still visible on some of the stone pillars.

Directions

Sivan Kolli Hills is near the lake and boathouse in Jambuthu. Refer to our map below for the exact location. A mud road leads to the temple from the main road just before the boathouse. Kolli Hills can be reached from all sides. The one starting from Naducombai on the east side of the hill is the most exciting one with about 72 hairpin binds on one way. Please be careful while driving on this road as it is narrow, very steep, and has many heavy vehicles moving on it.
