Ellamman Uthukadu is a very busy east facing temple with an imposing 5 tiered Rajagopuram. the temple throngs with people cooking offerings to the goddess on festive days. Ellamman Uthukadu temple has a single Prakaram around which the other deities are situated. A large temple tank is present opposite the temple.

Ellamman Uthukadu was constructed in 1608 by an admiral of King Krishnadeva Raya.
Krishnadevaraya was hunting in this area and was resting in the shade, tired and thirsty. His dog discovered a spring of fresh water and took the king to it where he saw a lemon floating towards him and also discovered the Amman idol. He then requested his commander to build the Ellamman Uthukadu temple.
Ellamman Uthukadu is about 4.5 kilometers north of Walajabad which is 14 kilometers south east of Kancheepuram in the Chinglepet road. take a left at Walajabad onto the Oragadam Road and at 2.5 kilometers you will come across the Temple Arch on your left.
