Mahalingeswarar Uthukadu is an ancient east facing temple. The shiva lingam is in the shape of a Banalingam. The temple is on a small mound and without an entrance gate or a compound wall. Two ancient Nandis are found in the open ground outside.

History

Mahalingeswarar Uthukadu is an ancient temple which was found completely dilapidated and renovated recently. The age is said to be more than 1000 years. A stone inscription is seen on the south wall of the sanctum.

Mahalingeswarar Uthukadu is about 5 kilometers north of Walajabad which is 14 kilometers south east of Kancheepuram in the Chinglepet road. take a left at Walajabad onto the Oragadam Road and at 2.5 kilometers you will come across the Ellamman Temple Arch on your left. Mahalingeswarar Uthukadu is about half a kilometer behind the Ellamman temple.
