History

Sidheeswarar Kancheepuram is an ancient temple but the historical information of this temple is not known as on date.

Legend

Goddess Parvathi smeared herself in Turmeric and immersed herself in the Kamba River making the waters run yellow. Pleased Lord Shiva appeared as a Lingam and was called Manjalneerkoothar. Many Sidhdhars used to visit and attained salvation changing the name to Sidhdheeswarar.
