Thiruvaleeswarar Thiruvanaikoil is a large west facing temple with the entrance gateway from the east. The temple has a single large and spacious Prakaram which houses all the shrines and the Sanctum Sanctorum. The Prakaram is filled with large trees and flowering plants. The circular Sanctum Sanctorum has a Vimaanam that is in the form of Gajaprastham (reclining elephant’s back). The figure of Veena Dakshinamurthy is on the Vimaanam amongst other interesting images.

Thiruvaleeswarar Thiruvanaikoil is 7.5 kilometers on the road from Chingleput to Thirumukkoodal via Kavithandalam running on the south side of Paalar River. Take the immediate right after crossing the Paalar bridge and drive past Kavithandalam to reach Thiruvaleeswarar Thiruvanaikoil. Taking the right after Paalar river requires care as this is a very fast and blind stretch – or go further and take a u-turn to be safe. On the way to this temple are also quite a few temples in Chingleput Taluk in our listing.
