Sayana Narayana Perumal Thiruloki is an east facing temple with 3 tier Rajagopuram and temple tank in front of the temple. The reclining lord here is barefooted (without the lotus). The temple has one large and spacious Prakaram.

History

Sayana Narayana Perumal Thiruloki is said to be built by Karuvur Thevar (c 1000 CE). Raja Raja Chola’s wife is Thirailokki Mahadevi and the village is named after her. There is a good possibility that he also contributed to the temple as both are supposedly contemporaries.

Legend

Goddess Lakshmi while searching for the lord was directed here by Garuda and she performed penance here at Sayana Narayana Perumal Thiruloki.
