Kariyamalleswarar, Thiruvanaikaval is a small temple and connected with the legends of both Srirengam and Thiruvanaikaval temples. A large temple tank of the Thiruvanaikaval temple is found opposite and that is the theertham for this temple. The temple is in line with that of Patteeswaram and Kathiramangalam temples.

Kariyamalleswarar, Thiruvanaikaval is believed to be as old as the Thiruvanaikaval temple.
The lingam at Kariyamalleswarar, Thiruvanaikaval is said to have been installed by Lord Rama.
After crossing the Sannidhi street of Thiruvanaikaval temple when you come from Thiruchirapalli, take the left to Gandhi Road, you will see the large temple tank and Kariyamalleswarar, Thiruvanaikaval is seen facing it.
Parthasarathy Vilas Hotel is just outside the western gopuram of Thiruvanaikaval temple and serves very good food. Try their ‘Super’ a ghee roast Dosa and the Sambhar Vada. Opens at 4 in the morning and again at about 4 in the afternoon till about 8-9 in the night. For stay there are good hotels on the main road, Srirengam and Thiruchirapalli.
