Mangalyeswarar, Edayatrumangalam is a small and ancient temple. The Nandi here is quite large. The entrance is from a arch gate in the south. The temple faces east. The goddess here is with 4 hands, the upper hands with lotuses and the lower hands blessing the devotees. Many ancient stone inscriptions are seen in Mangalyeswarar, Edayatrumangalam. The temple is believed to date back more than 1000 years and there is ample proof of the same. There are fish carvings in the ceiling indicating service by the Pandya Kings. There is also a carving on the ceiling depicting an eclipse with a long snake about to swallow the moon.
Mangalya Maharishi who was born here is believed to have built this temple and performed a wedding of the god and goddess here. It is frequented by women seeking a good marriage as the temple is considered auspicious and effective in granting their wish. Mangalya Maharishi is also believed to have attained the lord’s feet here.

The temple can also be reached from Lalgudi by driving about 3.5 kilometers south and taking a right at the first junction before Kollidam River.
