Panchanatheeswarar, Thirumanamedu entire temple is situated on an elevated platform of about 10 feet high. Entrance is through a flight of steps on the east. there is also an entrance from the west which is closed. There are idols of Ganesha and Muruga at the entrance of the main deity’s sanctum sanctorum. The goddess here is about 4-5 feet tall and has a third eye on the forehead. The idols of Ganesha, Nandi and Naagar look ancient.

Panchanatheeswarar, Thirumanamedu is an ancient temple gauging from the stone works, some of the old idols and the solid elevated platform.

Mythology

The lord is believed to have given vision of his marriage to Sage Agastya here.

Directions

Panchanatheeswarar, Thirumanamedu is east of Srirengam. At about 7 kilometers on the road from Srirengam to Lalgudi and after Valadi take a right and drive for a kilometer to reach Panchanatheeswarar, Thirumanamedu.

None locally. Closest is Srirengam and Thiruchirapalli. Satyamurthy Hotel in Lalgudi is fine for a food.
